образовалось в результате огромного каменного завала. Плотина плотная, сложенная гигантскими глыбами. Камни заросли плотным слоем травы и кустарников, даже арчовый стланик забрался сюда. Вода несколькими потоками просачивается через толщу плотины и с журчанием падает в реку Шорвусай. Два самых больших спуска воды: самый большой левый поток, он вырывается прямо из завала, и в середине плотины ручей стекает с самого верха, т.е. от самого озера. Тропа, опять же символическая, поднимается на завал по левой, пологой стороне, что совершенно логично, так как правый берег озера весьма трудно проходим.

Великолепная панорама открывается с шовуркульского завала, в одну сторону - долина Шовурсая, а с другой стороны - невероятной красоты снежные пики Таласского Алатау, гладь озера, играющая необыкновенными оттенками от синего до нестерпимо белого. Само озеро Шовуркуль раскинулось в тесной горной котловине, у подножья десятков ледников, обильно питающих его со всех сторон. Отсюда и цвет озера - небесно-голубой, но не прозрачный... даже прибрежных камней не видно - белeсая мгла микроскопических песчинок плотной пеленой скрывает дно этого гиганта. Высота озера над уровнем моря около 2800-2850 м, его длина более 1 км, а ширина достигает 700 метров, о глубине остается только гадать.

It was formed by a massive rock barrier. The dam is solid, built of gigantic boulders. The rocks are overgrown with a thick layer of grass and shrubs; even dwarf juniper has found its way here. Water seeps through the dam in several streams and cascades into the Shorvusai River with a murmur. There are two main water outlets: the largest is the left stream, which bursts directly from the debris, and in the middle of the dam, a stream flows down from the very top, that is, from the lake itself. The trail, again symbolic, climbs up to the debris on the left, gentler slope, which is entirely logical, since the right bank of the lake is quite difficult to traverse.
 
A magnificent panorama opens up from the Shovurkul dam: on one side, the Shovursay Valley, and on the other, the incredibly beautiful snow-capped peaks of the Talas Alatau, the lake’s surface shimmering with extraordinary hues ranging from blue to dazzling white. Lake Shovurkul itself lies in a narrow mountain basin, at the foot of dozens of glaciers that feed it abundantly from all sides. This explains the lake’s color—sky-blue, yet not transparent... even even the shoreline rocks are visible—a whitish haze of microscopic grains of sand forms a dense veil, concealing the bottom of this giant. The lake lies at an elevation of about 2,800–2,850 meters above sea level; it is over 1 kilometer long and up to 700 meters wide, while its depth remains a mystery.
